Simultaneous pressure-measured tests on the rigid models for a group of two adjacent large hyperboloidal cooling towers were conducted in TJ-3 wind tunnel of Tongji University.Mean and fluctuating wind pressures were presented for various tower distances and incoming wind angles.Compared with the result of an isolated tower, interference effects produced on each tower by the other one are illustrated by interference factor and quasi-static wind load coefficient.Test results indicate interference effect can’t be neglected even when L/D≥3 and the optimal wind direction is 0°-40° if evaluated by the mean C D.For tandem and staggered configurations, wind pressure distribution and flow state around the cooling towers are also analyzed.
