    Abstract:

    In order to understand the temperature characteristic of fire whirls in the vertical shaft, numerical simulations were carried out to study the centerline plume temperature of fire whirls in the vertical shaft. The numerical simulation results of centerline plume temperature were verified by using experimental data. It was found that plume temperature of fire whirls in the vertical shaft can be approximately divided into three regions which were stretched in the vertical direction based on the theory proposed by McCaffrey. The height values of different regions and formula coefficients were obtained, which are suitable for centerline plume temperature of fire whirls in the vertical shaft.
