Abstract: |
In order to research the friction properties of copper-graphite slide plate materials(CGSPMs) at different sliding velocities,a theoretical model on the relationship between sliding velocity and wear behaviors of CGSPMs was established from the perspective of friction mechanism.Theoretical analyses indicate that there is a parabola-shaped relationship between friction properties and sliding velocity. It means that an optimum sliding velocity region exists. When sliding velocity approaches to or is in this region, the forming and wearing rates of graphite layer on the worn surface tend to be balanced.consequently,a relatively integrated graphite layer forms on the contact surface and the CGSPMs possess stable friction properties. The theoretical model is well verified by the friction experiments conducted at different sliding velocities and scanning electron microscopy(SEM) analysis results about certain special worn regions. |
